The Condon ReportEditorial Design /// Typography
Description:
This project involves the design of a book using selected textual and visual materials from Scientific Study of Unidentified Flying Objects, directed by Dr. Edward U. Condon. The book presents dense scientific content through a structured design system that emphasizes clarity, readability, and visual coherence. Sequential page design, typography, and layout are used to guide the reader through technical material while integrating photography, graphs, and charts as supporting visual elements.
Process & Learning:
The design process focused on building a flexible system capable of handling large volumes of complex information without causing visual fatigue. Key considerations included pacing, hierarchy, and the alternation between text-heavy spreads and visually driven pages. Grids, captions, and pull quotes were used to connect written content with visual assets and maintain narrative flow. Through this project, skills were developed in managing dense informational content, establishing visual rhythm, and designing cohesive book systems that balance clarity, density, and visual interest.
