Movement Billboard Billboard Design /// Typography /// Motion GraphicsDescription:
This project involved designing a promotional billboard for Paxahau, a Detroit-based production company, to advertise Movement, the city’s annual techno music festival. Created during a junior-year Brand Strategies course, the billboard needed to capture the energy and cultural significance of Movement while remaining clear and impactful at a large scale. Working within a competitive classroom setting, four teams developed distinct visual approaches, each interpreting the festival’s identity and audience in different ways.
Process & Learning:
The process included multiple rounds of ideation, critique, and refinement, with regular presentations to Paxahau representatives who provided direct professional feedback. Collaborating as a team, we translated conceptual ideas into a concise visual system suited for outdoor advertising and real-world constraints. Having our design selected for installation on a billboard on Russell Street in Detroit reinforced the importance of clarity, audience awareness, and adaptability when designing for public space. The project strengthened my experience working with clients, responding to feedback, and balancing creative ambition with practical communication goals.
