826 Houston - The Houston Office of Officially Unofficial AffairsBranding
Description:
This project focused on developing a cohesive brand identity for an 826 store, a novelty storefront that also functions as a K-12 tutoring and literacy center. With 826 locations existing in multiple cities across the United States, the brand needed to feel engaging, adaptable, and accessible while supporting the organization’s educational mission. The identity was designed to translate consistently across both physical and digital applications, balancing playfulness with clarity to reflect the store’s dual role as a public-facing retail space and a community learning resource.
Process & Learning:
The process began with researching our assigned city and the 826 organization and its existing storefront models to understand how storytelling, humor, and accessibility shape their spaces in ways that speak to the local culture. From there, we explored visual systems that could remain flexible across signage, print materials, merchandise, and digital platforms. Emphasis was placed on creating a unified visual language that could scale and adapt without losing coherence. Iteration and testing across multiple applications ensured the brand maintained consistency while remaining versatile and engaging in different contexts.
