Social FabricExtended Reality Design  ///  Interaction Design

Description:

Social Fabric is a museum-style XR experience that explores the relationship between soccer and socio-political power structures. Centered around four soccer jerseys, the project examines how sexism, racism, nationalism, and homophobia have shaped the sport’s history and continue to influence its present. Each jersey serves as a narrative entry point, revealing how these issues manifest within soccer while also reflecting broader social systems beyond the field. The experience positions sport as both a mirror of societal values and a point of resistance, highlighting its capacity to reinforce inequality as well as its potential to generate visibility, dialogue, and social change.

Process:

The process focused on translating complex social themes into a spatial, interactive narrative that could be experienced intuitively by a museum audience. Physical interaction and extended reality elements were used to layer information and guide engagement without overwhelming the viewer. Developing the project required balancing clarity, accessibility, and emotional impact while working across physical and digital media. Through this process, the project strengthened skills in experiential storytelling, collaborative design, and using interactive systems and technologies to communicate an engaging story.
